The YWCA Quincy is a membership movement of women from diverse backgrounds, faiths, and ages, committed to eliminating racism and empowering women. Our association is committed to changing the lives of women and girls through programming, supportive services, and training that offer the tools necessary to achieve economic self-sufficiency.
The YWCA has a 106-year history of working to address the needs of women and girls in West Central Illinois and a long-term dedication to addressing the needs of Quincy’s underserved populations. The YWCA has been the backbone of social change to empower women in Quincy and continues its commitment to changing the lives of women and their families through education and training, supportive services, affordable housing, economic development, leadership training, and racial justice programming.
In order to accomplish the organization’s mission, the YWCA offers programs that focus on achieving the following goals:
- Moving low-income individuals toward economic self-sufficiency;
- Providing supportive services for women and their families;
- Furthering individual education through coursework and linkages with higher education opportunities;
- Promoting girls’ leadership and development;
- Helping women become stronger advocates in business, political, and community forums; and
- Addressing the issue of cultural diversity and racism in our community.
We invite members of our community to volunteer on one of our action committees or participate in various project opportunities throughout the year.
